We closed the door off to the bathroom since it has an entry from the other side, and wallpapered that wall. Then I did some painting on the fireplace and elsewhere!

Starting floor tiles.
We purchased 2000sf ceramic floor tile in a neutral color to use in all the places that have no flooring and are in areas with concrete under (and some areas that may get wet). Since we had so much unfloored area to cover, price was a big issue. We do plan on using lots of area rugs for color and warmth. We have installed about 100 tiles so far and have not yet made cuts. It's not too difficult but it is time consuming. This area took about 4 hours and 100 lbs of dry thin set mortar. This room is about 20% tiled now.

black ceiling, crown moulding, nearing completion on kitchen and dining room!
We probably should have painted the ceiling black before hanging the edison lights,
but this story sometimes writes itself.

Finally back to work! Mirror backsplash and red barn light
We finally got to work again after I had been traveling for 10 days. It's difficult to get time anyway between trying to keep the house we live in ready for selling, working at our jobs, and making time for family. But alas, this weekend was productive! We have been working on finishing the kitchen. It's about 90% there. We began installing the recycled 3x3" mirror tile on the backsplash area. We used a sort of double stick tape type product I found at Home Depot, which works great! We are not grouting the tile so they have sort of a disco ball effect. I ran out of the mirror tile so had to order more from Amazon. Since it is recycled glass, it is imperfect, which I always love.
Also, we installed an old red barn light I picked up thrifting for $15.

"new" $4 chandelier!
I found a dated brass 70s chandelier for a mere $4 at a resale shop and painted it black and we put it in the living room and W O W!!!
I covered the old fridge with contact paper OMG!
While I was thankful for the fridge that came with the house, I was totally sick of the off-white color:
So I updated it for little $ by covering it with contact paper~

penny tile & slate kitchen counter and farmhouse apron sink install
We have been working on the kitchen and after much deliberation opted for a tile countertop for the main counter, which is not really common these days but is very useful! It can withstand a lot of cooking abuse and heat - plus it is something we wanted to do ourselves. Granite is so predictable... Also, we used some old slate we found at a local antique store (for under $75) to top the bar upper counter.
