It's all ours!

So the seller moved out and we have begun work (mostly thinking).
Look - a swan picture. Tentative plans here (photo above) are: replace carpet with wood (or wood-like substance), mirrored mosaic wall behind fireplace, white cotton or burlap drapery panels (or maybe nothing on windows), grasscloth on right wall.

I think I will keep the 80's mirror panels but maybe zebra wallpaper over the wainscoting. I want to add bookshelves in the entry.

Ugh, a fan. No thanks. My baby grand piano will sit on the marble (hopefully it fits).

Big clock doorbell? No thanks.

This is the dining room. Big flowered valance, painted ceiling medallion, and heavy drapes will be departing.
The crystal chandelier may make the cut. We'll wait and see.

Wall in hall facing bath also in zebra? If I replace bathroom door with barn slider I will have to move the thermostat. That's easy (I think).

Am I going to open up this wall to the kitchen? I want to but will lose some cabinets...

Right wall also grasscloth. Mirrors can stay.

I got some big bay windows out of a dumpster and may use one to replace this tiny baby window. Also, the corner diagonal cabinet isn't really doing anything for me. The kitchen may come in phases...

See that river view????

This will be our son's room. He actually likes it the way it is but it will change anyway. Removing the border and fan and carpet and some of the shelving will be first.

Purple bathroom!!! Getting rid of the flowers but I kind of like the purple tile and tub.

How about a purple manly geometric wallpaper?

yuk.

nasty.

new counter top. Paint all of the trim black. Wallpaper the door.

down the stairs to the walk-out lower level. Need to get rid of the pink carpet ASAP! Zebra wallpaper on the wainscoting? Maybe so. New wooden treads on the stairs.

The rumpus room! Tile is cool and can stay. Not sure what to do yet.

looking into the master bedroom which used to be a garage under the house.

Lots of closets = good. Lots of mirrors and brass = 80's. I need another way for closet doors. Will my king bed fit between these closets on that wall??? Closets need trim or wallpaper!

How about a built in black cabinet over and around this commode?

Harry Potter is all grown up. Time to make another use for this! I''m thinking kitchenette/bar.

super funky laundry room. Needs drywall and paint and doors to hide the shelves.

This will be our office.

have to clean the refrigerator.

The River House - first look!

So, we bought this house. It needs some work - I'm hoping we can turn it into our home! The first photos are from the initial showing when the seller still lived in the house. Though it needs work, the house is in an amazing location and sits on the side of a bluff overlooking the river. The 2 levels of outdoor space has gorgeous unobstructed 180 degree views.
